Abstract
Objectives: To explore the Crises and Disaster Management Services policy in Community pharmacy practice, a significant new initiative in Saudi Arabia that is crucial for the advancement of the field. Methods: A comprehensive narrative review of community pharmacy policy and procedures for the Crises and Disaster Management Services system was conducted. The literature search spanned various databases, including PubMed, Medline, and Google Scholar, and covered specific Crises and Disaster Management and Services policies and procedures in Community pharmacy practice. The search period is from the 1960s until October 2021, ensuring a thorough review of the available literature. The term is in English and includes narrative review, systemic review, Meta-analysis, and guidelines. All hospital or community Community pharmacy services are included in a search term. The national and international guidelines of general crises and disaster management services are in the hospital practice. The Community Pharmacy Crises and Disaster Management and Services Committee formulated and consisted of various expert members. That includes clinical pharmacists, drug information pharmacists, and clinical Crises and Disaster Management and Services specialists. The guidelines of the policy draft by one member and the second member were reviewed and corrected. The third revision was by the Crises and Disaster Management and Services specialist. The topic emphasizes the competency of Community Pharmacy Crises and Disaster Management and Services policy and procedures. Results: The competency of the Community Pharmacy Crises and Disaster Management and Services policy consisted of various items. It had a Crises and Disaster Management Services committee, a general concept of Crises and Disaster Management, the content of the pharmaceutical care Crises and Disaster Management, which refers to the specific care and services provided by pharmacists during a crisis or disaster, planning of Crises and Disaster Management, implementation of Crises and Disaster Management, Execution of Crises and Disaster Management, training and education of Crises and Disaster Management, and exercise and testing for Crises and Disaster Management. Conclusion: The Community Pharmacy Crises and Disaster Management Services policy is a new initiative that has the potential to significantly impact patient care and safety in community practice. The competency of Crises and Disaster Management Services is required to meet any pandemic emergency for community pharmacy or public health, save patient lives, and avoid unnecessary costs. Therefore, the Crises and Disaster Management Services policy and processes are highly suggested for the Community pharmacy model in Saudi Arabia.
